Krbyfan1's News

Posted by Krbyfan1 - November 3rd, 2010

So this past weekend I had my first road trip. And it was quite an experience.

To begin, I had a long ass day at work Wednesday and didn't get home until late, somewhere around 10:30 PM, so I had no real time to relax before my trek, so I tried the best I could to get some rest. Unfortunately, I decided to leave at 2 AM Thursday morning, and let that set the tone for the rest of the night.

I started my travels by heading south to go east, and I ran into some strange road construction in some town I didn't care to remember the name. It wasn't updated on my GPS so there goes the theory of constant map updates. What a piece of shit.

Skip ahead a few corn fields and nameless towns and get onto I-94. I looked at my GPS and had 300 some miles to go. Oh boy. It was straight onto Michigan from here. As I went on, it was early morning and I was drifting a bit. I noticed a bunch of road kill as well. This is usually not a problem, but one time I saw what looked like a deer carcass in the middle of my lane. Lack of sleep + early morning travel + dead animal = AAAAAAHH! O_O

The miracle here is that I did not hear any thud, so there's a chance it was a hallucination. But the fact is it woke me up and kept me focused until I arrived in Canton that morning. After missing my destination, I drove on some of the weirdest streets I've ever seen. Imagine a four lane highway, two on each side, and with a left turn lane that puts you at a stop sign perpendicular with the streets, where you can only go left. I was thrown through a bit of a loop there.

I eventually get to the house I needed to go to, and wake up Little Washu. You probably remember her. We greet warmly and get ready for the day. After some breakfast and me falling asleep while she was in class, she unfortunately could not get out of work, so I spent some time with another compatriot of hers for a while. After she got home, we went to the Ren Center in Detroit.

This is when I remembered my irrational fear of open atriums. There were glass walkways and open air escalators everywhere. I almost broke down sometimes but I knew that would spoil my adventure, so I sucked it up and by the end of the trip I was fine with it. Of course going there Thursday was a bit of a waste, so we went back to rest up... for three hours.

Friday rolls around and three of us geared up and watched some Tenchi Muyo early in the morning before getting in line for registration. After the rather short wait (hooah for pre-reg ;3) we walked around for a bit. We hit the game room (which was immense compared to ACen) and visited the dealer's hall (which was not, as compared to ACen.) I got her the last set of Tenchi figurines she needed because why? Well, why not? A Guinea Pig has to treat his scientist to something every once in a while!

We had some pictures taken, but we had Dr. Zoidberg with us, and he was a huge hit there for some strange reason. I reckon he was stopped somewhere between 25-50 times over the weekend for photos. Who knew?

On Friday night we attended a charity masquerade, where most of us danced until our feet hurt (mine still do...). Of course Kermit the Frog was there and stole some of the show. I swear I choose some lame ass costumes to wear. This was also topped off by a crossplay Sesshomaru who danced with some of the girls. Not sure if sexy... I mean possibly, but... I dunno.

Saturday, sadly, had some bad news with it, being that there was an old lady hit in the food court so late in the night we had security checkpoints, and if we didn't have a room key or Youmacon badge, we were turned away from even getting to the elevators. Whoever did this, way to give con goers a bad name, you asshole.

Sunday was sadly the last day of festivities, and I suffer from "Post Con Stress Disorder" or PCSD, so for most of the day I felt sad, and was not looking forward to the 5 hour drive home. But I overcame it and enjoyed the rest of my day for what it was worth. We gathered near the lobby for some last minute group photos before we sent off for the day.

When we got back to the house, I packed my car and said goodbye to everyone. I admit, I cried when I had to leave, but surprisingly not as much as I'd thought. I enjoyed myself that weekend, and everyone was extremely hospitable towards me, as if I'd known them longer than three days.

My next planned con is ACen once again, and in that time of 7 months, so much can happen. I apologize that I don't have a huge mess of pictures, as most of them were just us fucking around. But please enjoy what I do have.

Jesus
Dr. Zoidberg vs. Miku Hatsune dance-off
Static Shock and Hulk Hogan team up
Gordon Freeman and UNSC Spartan
Tenchi Masaki and Crono, an unbeatable duo!
Harvey Birdman
BLU Heavy
Cirno
Red Sniper
Banjo and Kazooie
Super Mario Bros. 2
Gumby and Pokey, getting nasty
Sister
Cid Highwind
Team Rocket group shot
Two Girls, a Guy, and an Anime Con

On top of these, I got Megaman X4 for 10 dollars and a free Ed plush in the dealers room. Not bad steals. But for now, the adventures have come to a close. Oh come on, don't be so sad. Next time will be better!

I promise :3

Fist off, what is cosplay? After you're done reading, let me tell you why I think it's one of the best things ever on this Earth.

Cosplay is an art form, which allows us in the real world to bring to life our favorite characters from TV, fiction, anime, and video games. It's an intense world where details can make or break an outfit or illusion. The most dedicated cosplayers usually make their outfits from scratch yards of fabric, a sewing needle, and top notch know-how. Some are wizards at closet cosplay and throw together fantastic outfits from whatever they find in their house or at thrift stores and the like. You can also commision quality cosplays for the right price if your sewing isn't the best.

But how you get it doesn't matter. As long as you have fun and show respect for others you're guaranteed to have an excellent time with other like-minded people.

Cosplay also opens new worlds for characters from many series to interact with each other? Have you ever wanted to see Mario fighting off Sephiroth? Perhaps scoping a peek at Iron Man chatting with Phillip Fry? Maybe play a few rounds of Street Fighter with Ryu himself? Cosplay makes magic happen, and you can be part of it, too. Even if you don't cosplay you can still see your favorite characters parading around and maybe take a photo op as well!

I urge you to go to a convention sometime. Everyone has a great time, and there's plenty of gems to be found in the halls, dealers rooms, and art exhibits. Seriously, the hate cosplay gets is undeserving. It is not childish, foolish, or dumb. It's a form of expression and a way to have a great time.

With that out of the way, I bequeath to you my photos of Anime Central 2010. Please enjoy!

Go on, NG. Here's your chance to ask me anything.

Maybe something about life? Myself? What I think of your face? The possibilities are endless. Just remember, I reserve the right to filter these questions (Because you really don't need my phone number and social security card, nor do you deserve the right to know some of my deeper secrets and experiences.)

The answer you recieve may be serious, comical, or even wrong, but you'll get an answer from me. What are you waiting for? Ask and ye shall be heard!

In my rather recent and frequent travels across the intarwebz I find sites that are so outlandish, cool, or otherwise strange. I am here to spread the word about two rather neat sites I found in my exploration of the Information Super Highway.

The first here is Sailor Moon Shop, where they have "out-of-print posters and wall scrolls, great stationery and tote bags, CD's and DVD's, books, plus much more." This is mostly an anime-related site which features cool things like iPod/laptop skins and the forementioned goodies of animes like Bleach, Evangeleon, Inuyasha, and Tenchi Muyo! :3 Of course the hardest part is choosing what you want on what <.>

Secondly, and oddly enough encountered when searching for No Need For Tenchi mangas, Polypics. Zippo lighters, belts, money clips and other random ass shit that you can customize with your favorite anime, 80's TV shows, Old Movies and the like. High quality, too, because these are expensive items and not crap. Quote from one of their lighter pages: "This is a brand new windproof, fluid STYLE lighter . It is a refillable, black, high quality lighter . The picture is covered in a heavy waterproof epoxy resin as seen by the shadowing in photos. This is NOT a cheap stick on photo, this is superior HIGH QUALITY artwork." Pretty sweet deal! I was thinking this and this. Funny, because I don't smoke, but I am in the market for a new wallet. And the lighter? Just to be a smug, smart ass bastard when people ask for a light and I say "Bro, I have the brightest light in the universe." *Rimshot*

You can pay me back in thanks, money order, or female cosplayers.

For 40 years, there has been one question that has been asked constantly. It is a bigger conundrum than even the Kennedy assassination and has shaken many television sets through the past generation.

More important than "Where were you on 9/11?"

Far more important than "Where were the weapons of mass destruction?"

And even greater than "What's in your refrigerator that can kill you? Find out at 11."

A question that stumps many scientists and philosophers by asking themselves "Are we truly ready?"

Only you can answer it, and it follows as such...

"ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL!?"

One question...

This is me.

Yes, the user known as MultiCanimefan, is in fact my alt.

The intervention of The Carnival? That was me.
Photoshop Rig? I'm sorry.

Add to numerous other untracable acts of anime on the BBS, it's only logical someone would catch on. I mean think about it; the sig stealing, the photoshopping, the similar mindset? Many suspected, few thought it, but now the truth is out.

MultiCanimefan is not a 19 year old from the USA. He never existed. He was a fragment of my personality I created in order to fool others on the BBS. And now that my secret is out, you now know. This seemingly intelligent young man is a side of me I tried hard to supress, but I cannot hide it anymore. I shall seek psychiatric help soon to abolish this behavior from my mind.

I truly feel sorry for duping you, but Hell was it fun wasn't it?

Confession time...
